Overview. Calvin Ayre (born May 25, 1961, in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada) is the founder of the Bodog online gaming and entertainment brand, which he developed and launched in 1994. University of Seattle.

He was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation and aR$500,000 US fine. The gambling website Bodog has been shut down and four Canadians indicted, including founder Calvin Ayre, for illegal gambling that generated more thanR$100 million in winnings, U.S. federal prosecutors say.

Illegal gaming is a misdemeanor carrying up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up toR$1000. Though gambling becomes a crime whenever there is a bank  or house  that collects funds or takes a rake.  All gaming participants face being arrested, including players, dealers, and hosts.

In California, online gambling remains a complex issue since the state has not yet legalized and regulated it. While there are no explicit laws prohibiting it, there are some laws that could be interpreted as such, such as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA).
